I had just told the Defense Security Service agent, the one I told he had to contact my lawyer and commanding officer before I would talk to him the day before over the phone, to take a hike and threatened to have him escorted out, wondering how he made it to the 10th floor and my desk without an escort. I cracked a joke as he waddled away; Kevin, who sat six feet from my desk, asked, Jack, how do you do it, man?"
"Do what?" I retorted.
“Keep a sense of humor with all the bullshit you've had to deal with since getting shot with the laser?' he inquired.
"I find something to laugh at. If I don't laugh, then I will cry, and my eyes will only hurt worse than they always do," I responded.
Yes, you read the previous question from Kevin correctly; I was shot in the face with a laser from a Russian spy ship on April 4th, 1997, near Seattle, Washington. I was flying in a Canadian Air Force CH-124 Sea King helicopter, taking photographs of a Russian cargo vessel that U.S. Naval Intelligence, for which I worked, suspected of working on behalf of Russian military intelligence, the GRU, and the Federal Security Bureau (FSB) (formerly the KGB). Both of my eyes were burned by the laser fired at us that day, and my retinas still bear the scars today; however, as the game is played in the intelligence business, what I just told you of -- never happened. The often-mind-numbing pain I have lived with every day for the last 26+ years is only in my imagination, per the United States Navy and Department of Defense. This shocking exposé is based on the author’s 15 years of experience in defense intelligence and his own first-hand experience battling the intelligence apparatus of the former Soviet Union et al. This is a true story of survival through a painful “David and Goliath” battle that pitted a career United States Navy spy against the President of the United States and his treasonous lieutenants.
